STBA Construction Field Trip

With Sizeler, Thompson, Brown the office field trip focused on several projects under construction. This handful of projects is a fraction of what this office has accomplished since Katrina and all of these projects have a significant impact on recovery of the city. Incarceration, housing, traffic and planning management and university runs the gamut very well.

A picture of the team at a vehicle maintenance facility for the Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff. Top o' the morning at OPP.

At the Terraces on Tulane Avenue, they are using a metal formwork for the slabs, that actually remains as a finish ceiling material.

Rabbit infestation of the Falstaff building, adjacent to the Marquis Apartments on Poydras.

TPO single ply roof membrane.

The intersection of this sloped roof and the vertical parapet wall is a potential issue for water intrusion.

Department of Transportation and Development on West End Boulevard in New Orleans, will monitor traffic flows and aid in emergency evacuation. The Regional Planning Commission will share the building as well.

Hopefully the spec states that weld joints should be ground smooth prior to paint.

Spray applied moisture/ vapor retarder, metal panel, aluminum curtain wall, with one man holding it all up.

Aluminum curtain wall prior to glazing.

This is meant to be finish quality smooth concrete!

An example of an excellent mockup of an exterior brick cavity wall, as presented by STBA's own head of construction administration, Capt Eddie Castelin. The contractor on the project is Carl E. Woodward, below shows the steel.
This is a new classroom building at Dillard University, which is in the Gentilly area of New Orleans.
